Father Shahe Ananyan

Supreme Archimandrite Shahe Ananyan, born on 01 October 1982, in Nor Hachn, town in Kotayk region.

From 1989 to 1999, he studied and graduated with honor (with a gold medal) from the local secondary school № 1 specialized in Russian.

From 1999 to 2003, he studied in Vazkenian Seminary in Sevan, then from 2003 to 2005 studies an graduated from Gevorkian Theological Seminary in, with the M.A. thesis on ‘’The Indirect Sentences in Four Gospels: Old Armenian and Greek texts”.

In 2006, with the blessing of Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, he continued his studies at Catholic University of Paris and School of Oriental Studies in Sorbonne, specializing in Commentary and Theology of the Old Testament. In 2010, after the defense of his thesis he received a degree of Canonical Licentiate.

In 2013, after the necessary examinations and the defense of his thesis, he was granted the rank of Archimandrite (Vardapet).

In 2016, he defended a thesis for the rank of Supreme Archimandrite (Tsayragouyn Vardapet). In the same year, he received PhD degree after studying in the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of Yerevan State University through 2012-2016 and defending his PhD thesis.

In 2005, he was ordained as deacon by Bishop Yezras Nersissian, the Primate of the Russian and Nor Nakhidjevan Diocese of Armenian Apostolic Church. In 2006, he was ordained as a celibate priest (Abekha) by Bishop Taron Jerejian.

From 2006 to 2019, he served as a mace-bearer of the Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin I. Afterwards, he also served as the Director of the Publicity and Publishing Departments at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

At the moment, he is the Director of Inter-Church Relations Department. Since 2009, he has been lecturing at Gevorkian Theological Seminary, Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences, Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts.

He is an author of four monographs and about six dozen research and journalistic articles.
